Prinivil is a drug generally taken to treat hypertension. The drug can be used alone as well as with other medications. Together with other medicines the drug is useful for treating heart failure or enhancing the patients state after a heart attack. For other purposes the medication may be used only if advised by your doctor.

Being an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor the drug acting in the body relaxes blood vessels. This effect makes the blood pressure fall.

Prinivil is inappropriate if you have allergy to a component in it and if you have ever suffered from angioedema (swelling of the face, hands, eyes, lips, throat, or tongue; hoarseness, difficulty breathing and swallowing), including angioedema resulted from treatment with an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. Children suffering from serious kidney disease and pregnant women (2nd/3rd trimesters) are not allowed to take Prinivil.

If you fall into the group mentioned above you should inform your doctor.

If any questions about the use of the drug appear, you should refer to your doctor or a pharmacist.
Do not give the medication to people who have no prescription for it.
If the symptoms show no improvement or get worse, talk to the doctor.

This guide contains only general information about the medicine. If you need additional facts concerning the effect and the use of the drug ask your doctor for advice.
